What’s New for Writers? Voices Beyond the Expected
Issue 034 · November 2, 2026
Literature · Publishing · AI Writing
A new poetry reading path, recognition across continents and a window for genre-defying books. 📚 Catch-up: items 2–4, October 31–November 1.
1. Lit Hub’s November poetry picks are here
Rebecca Morgan Frank’s November 2 feature offers a new poetry reading path, including Malgorzata Lebda’s Mer de Glace in Mira Rosenthal’s English translation. The fresh development is the publication of this editorial selection—not a claim that every featured collection was released today.
2. Catch-up: Norma Cantú named for 2027 lifetime honour
The Texas Institute of Letters announced on November 1 that Norma Elia Cantú has been selected for its 2027 Lifetime Achievement Award. The presentation is scheduled for May 1, 2027. Selection and ceremony are different events; this is the selection news.
3. Catch-up: African Writers Awards announce 2026 winners
The organiser’s November 1 report says the 2026 African Writers Awards winners were announced in Kampala on October 31. The awards span several literary categories and generations. We distinguish the event date from the later report, rather than resetting the ceremony to today.
4. Catch-up: Warland Award opens its submission window
The official Warland Award site lists November 1–December 1, 2026 as its submission window. The award celebrates hybrid-genre books published in Canada. This is an official calendar opening, not a newly dated press release. Read current eligibility rules and verify the submission portal before entering.
