How to Write Your First Story with DeepCrafter

Most people stall before they start, not because the idea is bad, but because the first blank page asks for too many decisions at once: plot, voice, structure, character names, all before a single sentence exists. DeepCrafter narrows that down to three choices — genre, theme, and AI Master — and lets you make every other decision after you can already see a page of prose in front of you.

1. Sign in and open Create

1. Visit deepcrafter.ai and select Sign Up or Log In — email or Google both work.
2. Open Create in the navigation bar, or go directly to deepcrafter.ai/inovel.

2. Give DeepCrafter a strong story seed

A theme is not a logline for marketing — it's the raw material the AI Master will interpret. The strongest seeds contain four things: a specific protagonist, a desire or problem, an unusual constraint, and a source of pressure.

Weak theme:

A space adventure.

Stronger theme:

An astronaut who is terrified of darkness must repair a generation ship after its artificial sun fails—while receiving messages from someone who should not be aboard.

Notice what changed: the second version names a fear (darkness), a task (repair), and a mystery (the messages). That's three pressure points an AI Master can actually write toward, instead of a genre label it has to invent conflict for on its own.

A few more starting points across genres:

• Mystery / Speculative Fiction: A detective who can read memories investigates a murder committed by someone with no past.
• Romance / Historical Fantasy: A court translator falls in love with the enemy prince whose letters she has been ordered to falsify.
• Literary Fiction: Three estranged siblings return to sell their childhood home and discover their mother had preserved a different version of their family history for each of them.

If you don't have a seed yet, open Trending in the sidebar. Treat a trending theme as raw material, not a finished brief — change the character, stakes, or moral question until the premise feels like yours.

3. Choose how the story should sound

Treat this choice as a creative lens, not a final commitment. Every sentence generated afterward can still be edited, redirected, or rewritten — the AI Master sets a starting direction, not a ceiling.

4. Choose a creation mode

Use AI Create when you want to guide the story one decision at a time: read a generated passage, pick a direction (or write your own), and continue. This is the best mode for your very first session — it teaches you the creative loop before you commit to a full draft.

The AI Create loop, concretely:

1. Select AI Create.
2. Read the generated passage.
3. Choose one of the suggested directions, or enter your own.
4. Continue, edit, or branch.
5. Repeat until the story has the shape you want.

5. Make the draft yours

After the first passage appears, you have four tools, each suited to a different kind of problem:

• Manual Editing — when you know exactly which word or line is wrong.
• AI Rewrite — when the direction or execution is wrong, not just a detail.
• AI Master's advice — when the passage is promising but needs craft-level refinement.

Your first goal is not maximum word count. It's a compelling premise, a clear voice, and a direction worth continuing — the rest of the manuscript gets easier once those three things are in place.

The DeepCrafter creative workflow, in five parts

Every session, long or short, moves through the same loop. Understanding it makes it easier to know which tool to reach for at any given moment.

1. Plan — genre, theme, voice, character pressure, desired scale.
2. Draft — AI Create for guided drafting, Deep Craft for long-form generation.
3. Direct — choose directions, branch, change perspective, test alternatives.
4. Refine — rewrite, optimize, edit manually, check Human Score.
5. Experience and export — cover, audio, download, or publish.

You can move backward at any point: a draft can return to planning, a branch can become the main story, an AI suggestion can be ignored or rewritten entirely. Nothing here is a one-way door.
